Hot Packs

If you are a woman, chances are that you are well aware of the good that hot packs can do on severe pain. Think severe pain in your abdomen or severe back pain; short of medication, what else is better than hot packs to help alleviate pain and bloating that just won’t go away?

There is more than one way to go about hot packs. You can make your own hot pack with a hot wet wash cloth or you can buy a first aid hot and cold pack for the pain. You can buy hot backs especially made for neck pain and you can buy hot and cold packs for knee pain and back pain as well.

What chemicals are in a hot pack? That really depends on what type of hot pack it is. Not all hot packs use chemicals. Some hot packs are merely hot water bottles or heating pads, pads that are built with heating elements in them and plug into the wall. These are more like heating pads than hot packs, and there are safety precautions that go along with this type of hot pack that make them not so great of an idea for young children.

You can easily make a hot cold pack in the case of an emergency with warm or cold rags from the sink. Running extremely hot or cool water on a rag and applying it to an injury or sore area is just as good as a regular hot or cold pack, it just requires a lot more work because the rags tend to loose their temperature rather easily. While this is a good option for those emergencies that come up when one isn’t prepared for them, so it is important to try and have hot and cold packs in the first aid kit at your home or work place, or even in your car just in case of emergencies such as this.

Hot packs are a great option for those people who just do not like to medicate for small aches and pains in the body, and that is a good thing. They are normally just fine for helping to ease some of the aches and pains that are just due to wear and tear on the body and exhaustion or just plain soreness, without having to worry about any nasty side effects on the body, like grogginess or an allergic reaction.
